The quality of a child’s education depends upon the willingness of parents to contribute to the work of building and enriching the child’s educational community. Parent involvement is a concrete acknowledgement that a child’s education can never simply be the school’s responsibility. It is also a productive and important way of ensuring that our school is a place of academic strength and vital connections.
At Good Shepherd Lutheran School, we ask our parents to share the responsibility of educating and nurturing our students by getting involved in various aspects of school life. Every K - 8 family is required to give 25 volunteer hours per academic year. Preschool only families are required to give 7 hours per academic year. Volunteer opportunities range from helping in the classroom to beautifying the grounds. Several important events, such as Book Fair and Annual Auction, are also successfully executed by our volunteer parents. Many of our families reach far beyond the required 25 hours in their commitment to enriching our educational community every year. GSLS certainly would not be the same amazing educational institution without the dedicated parents and extended families in our community.
