Our philosophy at Good Shepherd Lutheran School is that young children learn best through active play and exploration. We work toward enhancing the development of the while child through a program that nurtures their social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual development. We provide a child centered environment which makes the transition from home to school easier through careful planning by experienced and qualified teachers. This builds a positive attitude about school that creates the foundation for lifelong learning.

The programs for the two- and three-year-olds focus on social-emotional skills, gross and fine motor development, spiritual growth, and pre-academic skills such as listening and following directions. The Pre-K program continues to support children’s growth and development by advancing social-emotional, motor, and academic-readiness skills.  Teachers use observational assessment tools, and teaching strategies to make informed planning and support each student’s individual development. This tool is an authentic, ongoing, observation-based assessment system that helps teachers and administrators focus on what matters most for children’s success.
